on Saturday affirmed that 2023 must be the year of social peace, dialogue, economic recovery, and attention to the most urgent needs of Peruvian citizens —especially the most vulnerable ones.
The Head of State indicated that, during the three weeks of her Transition Government, measures have been adopted to immediately improve the population's living conditions —through infrastructure, food, and poverty-fighting projects.
As an example, the top official mentioned the Con Punche Peru Plan, which includes 19 measures to be implemented during the first half of 2023. These involve a high social and productive component, which are focused on economic reactivation at the national level.
They will entail an investment of S/5.9 billion (about US$1.5 billion) and generate over 130,000 jobs.
Likewise, primary health care will be strengthened and the completion of stalled regional hospitals will be unlocked.
Furthermore, the dignitary ensured the reactivation of emblematic projects, such as Chavimochic and Majes Siguas II, which mean an investment worth over US$1.3 billion, as well as measures to guarantee that schoolchildren can rely on proper infrastructure, food, greater internet connectivity, and other services in 2023.
The President affirmed that these measures —together with the unlocking of water, planting, harvesting projects, and permanent coordination with new regional and local authorities— will go hand-in-hand with the frontal fight against corruption.
Unity towards development
"I assumed the Government by constitutional mandate and under difficult circumstances. However, I have the firmest conviction that, with the support and contribution of everyone —men, women, youth, students, workers, SMEs, guilds, civil society, professional associations, universities, and farming communities— we will be able to provide the homeland with a new horizon," Mrs. Boluarte emphasized.
Moreover, the President underscored that Peru is greater than its problems and expressed confidence that goals will be fulfilled with peace and development in 2023.
"Whenever this moment is remembered in the future, we are confident it will be said that we never gave up and that we laid the foundations for a better Peru. We must work together, with the commitment to move our country forward; let us unite in a single embrace and heart; let us say, 'thanks for life, peace, and a future with hope,'" Mrs. Boluarte expressed.
"The Peruvian people are not violent or aggressive but peaceful, supportive, brave, thriving, who love peace and are committed to development," she added.
