Peru's Prime Minister Guido Bellido has affirmed that his Cabinet will attend a Congress plenary session on August 26 to present a development approach for the country, explaining all the challenges required to achieve such goal.
Precisely, the Ministerial Cabinet will appear at said plenary session to support the Government's general policy and request a vote of confidence from legislators.
"On August 26, I will introduce an approach to the development of the country and the challenges that must be met," the Prime Minister pointed out.
In an interview with Latina local channel, the Cabinet chief remarked that he will remain in his post "as long as the
President of the Republic has confidence in him."
On the other hand, Bellido denied that he had spoken to any individual linked to terrorist organizations, noting that Sendero Luminoso (
Shining Path) was one of the groups that have cost the country a lot of money and lives.
When asked about an amnesty for terrorists —including
Abimael Guzman— as sought by Movadef, Bellido emphasized that he does not agree with it.
With regard to the coronavirus pandemic, the government official commented on the preparation of an economic grant for vulnerable people who need economic support due to the health emergency caused by COVID-19.
"A S/350 (US$85.7) grant will be delivered to nearly 13 million people. This subsidy will be aimed at individuals rather than families, since a three-member household is not the same as one made up of eight people," he stated.
