Recently sworn-in Prime Minister Alberto Otarola has reaffirmed the Ministerial Cabinet's commitment to dialogue, peace, and meritocracy.

Likewise, the Cabinet chief noted that, as a transitional government, issues such as health, education, attention to food crisis, support for agriculture, economic recovery, among others, will be prioritized.

"The President of the Republic has a very clear social agenda, which includes education and health, placing emphasis on sectors that have a large impact on vulnerable segments," Otarola said at a press conference.

He also stated that the Executive Branch will prioritize issues such as the food crisis and anemia in children.

In this regard, Health Minister Rosa Gutierrez affirmed that her sector will work permanently with governors, local authorities, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) to get the hospitals that Peru requires underway.

"We also have more intense work to do at the primary care level. We need to improve our health facilities so as to have a better response to any event that may impact health services in our country," she said.

For her part, Agrarian Development-Irrigation Minister Nelly Paredes del Castillo announced that the drought relief subsidy for affected agricultural producers and cattle breeders, which will be approved this week through an emergency decree, will be disbursed in 17 regions.

It should be noted that the subsidy will range from S/800 (US$209.6) to S/3,200 (US$838.7) per crop hectare that has been affected, and in the case of small farmers, it will go up to S/266 (US$69.7) per species up to a maximum of 12 animals per breeder.

Remarks were made during a press conference held at the Government Palace in Lima on Wednesday.
