Peru's Huancayo metro to kick off service by January 2014

The metro of Huancayo, in Peru's central Andes, is set to kick off services by the end of January next year, benefiting 30,000 citizens on its first stage, the city mayor Dimas Aliaga reported Monday.
In statements to Andina news agency, the top official said the first metro line of the so-called "Wanka Train" will pass through the Huancayo's urban area by covering the districts of Chilca, Huancayo and Tambo.

The train will have six wagons which are mean to carry up to 150 passengers each, while the ticket will be priced at one sol.

Likewise, he stated the train will run 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) linking the northernmost and southernmost area of the Andean province in 15 minutes.

The Huancayo's metropolitan railway service will be the second metro line in Peru, after Lima Metro Network.
