The second impeachment motion against President Martin Vizcarra generates a situation of political crisis that puts the stability of the country and the economic reactivation at risk, Foreign Affairs Minister Mario Lopez affirmed.

"It does not generate a projection for the short and medium terms; we are months away from the general elections, in the middle of an electoral process, as well as of the economic reactivation and the fight against COVID-19 (...)," he pointed out.

The Cabinet member specified that the Head of State had indicated that he is willing to contribute to the investigations at the prosecutorial level.

In remarks to TV Peru, Ambassador Lopez indicated that the domestic situation has an impact on the region's nations, whose ministers of foreign affairs have expressed concern about the country's next steps, in terms of economic reactivation and the elections.

"I have been emphatic that President Vizcarra's administration and Peruvians want to reactivate the economy of the country as soon as possible; we have seen signs that the reactivation is well advanced and that the electoral process is underway under clear signs of transparency," he asserted.
