Peru: Total exports up 14.34% in May 2018

Peru's total exports value grew 14.34% in May 2018 compared to the same month the previous year, National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported.

According to INEI, the Inca country's traditional sales expanded 14.61% last May over the same period in 2017.

The most demanded goods derived from the mining sector such as copper, gold, iron, and silver.

Hydrocarbon and fishery sectors also stood out in this sense.

Similarly, Peruvian non-traditional product exports rose 13.47% in the analyzed month.

Said increase was mainly underpinned by higher shipments from sectors such as farming, fishery, chemical, and textile.

Imports

On the other hand, INEI pointed out Peru's total imports went up 15.56% in May this year.

In this regard, purchases of raw materials and intermediate products expanded 28.22% against the same month last year. 

Finally, acquisition of capital and consumer goods increased by 6.76% and 2.62%, respectively.
