Peru's non-traditional exports volume expanded 27.5% last April over the same period in 2017, thus registering 18 months of consecutive growth, National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported.
In the analyzed month,
non-traditional goods —which stood out— derived from the farming (+29.5%), fishing (+45.4%), iron-steel (+18.7%), and chemical (+14.1%) sectors.
In this regard, the
farming sector saw increased exports of mangoes and mangosteens (+109%), asparagus (+33.7%),
avocados (+18.4%), and other fruits (+45.1%).
Likewise,
fishing sector's growth was mainly explained by greater foreign sales of squid, giant squid, and cuttlefish (+194.8%), whole frozen prawns (+59.9%), and shell-less prawn tails (+56.1%).
Lastly, the most demanded
iron-steel products included unalloyed zinc (+76.5%), as well as unalloyed steel or iron bars (+39%).
