Peru President: We continue working and generating progress

14:42 | Sullana (Piura region), Sep. 19.

President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday affirmed his administration continues working and generating progress while waiting for Congress to support the political-justice reforms.

"On this special day, when the Prime Minister has attended Congress to present the confidence motion aimed at achieving the justice-political reforms to combat corruption, I'm in Piura as proof that Peru can't stop," the Head of State expressed.

As is known, the Vizcarra administration transferred S/800 million (about US$241 million) this year just for reconstruction efforts intended to repair the damages caused by Coastal El Niño phenomenon.

As is known, northern Peru was hit by Coastal El Niño floods last year. Said weather event was characterized by heavy rains, landslides, and floods, which destroyed infrastructure and crops, leaving many citizens homeless.

With these resources, construction works and projects will be implemented in the next few months, the Peruvian leader indicated.

While in Piura, he also assured Peruvians' quality of life is improving and committed himself to continue working intensively, so this region can be more productive and efficient than it was before the catastrophe occurred.

Remarks were made during the inauguration of a Sullana Highway.
