Peru President urges Congress to approve political reform

President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday urged Congress to debate and approve the political reform bills as soon as possible.

As is known, the President said recently that the reform is supported by 70% of Peruvian citizens.

In this sense, the Head of State recalled this week marks a month since the reform bills were submitted to Parliament, adding these have not been passed yet.

Likewise, he underlined the Executive Branch works hard to comply with its functions and requested Congress —therefore— to do the same.

"This is not disrespectful. We are not forcing Congress when we ask them to attend to the country's priority issues, which is what we are doing," the top official expressed.

According to the statesman, the time wasted on interrogating members of the National Police's High Complexity Investigations Division (Diviac) could have been used to discuss the political reform bills instead.
