Peru PM: Executive ready to submit political reform bills

14:20 | Lima, Apr. 5.

Prime Minister Salvador del Solar on Friday affirmed the Executive Branch is ready to submit the political reform bills to Congress.

In this sense, the high-ranking official indicated this reform is a priority for the Government. Thus, progress has been made in the assessment of the proposals presented by the High-Level Political Reform Commission led by Fernando Tuesta.

The aforementioned bills were not introduced during the Prime Minister's address to Parliament last Thursday in order to prevent confusion with the confidence-vote-related matters.

Likewise, the cabinet chief informed he had discussed this subject with Congress' political groups prior to attending the recent plenary session.

"We are ready to visit Congress in the coming days, relying on the confidence granted, and with the bills," he expressed.

As is known, the Tuesta Commission introduced political-reform-related proposals to the Vizcarra administration.
