Peru President: Providing drinking water to all citizens is priority

14:41 | Ilo (Moquegua region), Jan. 11.

President Martin Vizcarra on Friday affirmed his administration will undertake efforts to ensure Moquegua region's population has access to drinking water.

According to the Head of State, his administration has prioritized the implementation of drinking water and sewage services across regions.

Likewise, the top official indicated that his administration —every day— kicks off drinking water projects due to this issue's importance

"This is the priority. Families need many things, but the most important (things) are basic services, and the most important basic service is water," the statesman expressed.

"We must fix highways, inspect roads, and improve farming productivity. There are many important projects, but we must start with water," he added.

Furthermore, he pointed out the Government's goal is to boost infrastructure works that are necessary to invigorate development throughout Moquegua —his hometown region— which is growing supported by important social dynamics.

Remarks were made during the ceremony of land delivery intended for basic service works implementation.

On this occasion, he was joined by Ministers Javier Pique (Housing, Construction and Sanitation), Gustavo Mostajo (Agriculture and Irrigation), Edgar Vasquez (Foreign Trade and Tourism), and Raul Perez-Reyes (Production), as well as other officials.
