Peru President: "One of our main goals is to regain citizens' trust"

19:03 | Lima, Oct. 7.

President Martin Vizcarra affirmed on Monday that one of the main goals of his administration is to rebuild the population's trust in authorities, by acting properly.

According to the Head of State, working with honesty is extremely important to that end.

In this sense, he indicated that if trust has been lost, it is because of dishonesty, although not from all authorities.

"This must change," the top official expressed, adding this endeavor to ensure transparency must be shared by all mayors in the Inca country.

Likewise, the statesman recalled that mayors support the Government's actions, as it works towards its major goal of improving Peruvians' quality of life.

Furthermore, he explained that the period following the Congress dissolution forces the Executive Branch to double its efforts to comply with its tasks.

Within this framework, President Vizcarra noted that his administration will continue working with the population as the main support in the decision making process.

His remarks were made during a meeting with mayors of the Network of Urban and Rural Municipalities of Peru (REMURPE).
