The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday congratulated the massive participation of citizens during the extraordinary electoral process that served to elect new representatives for the 2020-2021 Parliament.

The Head of State indicated that it is not possible to say if the constitutional dissolution of Congress was worth it or not, but it is possible to talk about the great participation of Peruvians across the country in the elections held last Sunday.

"I want to congratulate (the citizens) because there was massive participation, about 80% of the population throughout the country organized itself to cast its vote responsibly (…)," he expressed.

"We feel close to the Peruvian people, and that is why we are going to work with all political parties," the leader stated.
"I support this formation because it is the loyal representation of people's feelings," he added.

The new 130 legislators will serve the remaining period of the 2016-2021 legislative tenure, following the dissolution of Congress.
