President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday participated in a ceremony marking the handing over of credentials to the 25
, who will begin their terms in office on January 1, 2019.
The new authorities' tenure will last thru 2022.
In this sense, the Head of State urged new officials to be his main allies in the
fight against corruption, which will not only enable saving more resources for public
works, but also improving Peruvians' self-esteem and trust.
As is known, regional and local elections were held on October 7. On that occasion, 10 regional governors and deputy governors were
elected.
On December 9, the run-off took place in which the remaining authorities were chosen.
The ceremony was held at the National Election Board (JNE) headquarters in Lima.
