Peru PM: "Only together we will move forward"

13:09 | Lima, Jan. 18.

Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva has affirmed working together and developing territorial agendas are essential to guarantee the decentralization in the Inca country.

"We must opt for integration. Provinces with their districts, provinces with the region and among regions. Only together we will move forward," the official expressed.

Likewise, the cabinet chief urged Moquegua Region Governor Zenon Cueva, as well as provincial and district mayors, to take advantage of President Martin Vizcarra's decentralized administration, since efforts are being undertaken to untie the knots that had been —historically— created.

In this sense, Prime Minister Villanueva indicated local governments should aim to achieve fiscal decentralization in the medium- and long-term. Thus, they should favor investment funds and not only canon or tax exemptions.

On the other hand, the official requested Moquegua's authorities to support the Head of State in the fight against corruption

"We must come together in matters such as the fight against corruption, and in building a more equal and caring country. If we add the decentralization policy we want towards 2021, we can achieve a more modern and fair country for everyone," he underlined.
