Peru's Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos on Sunday supervised actions to resume businesses associated with the processing and marketing of dairy products, as well as the breeding of guinea pigs under the Haku Wiñay program managed by the
Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis).
Joined by Midis' head Ariela Luna, the
President of the Council of Ministers verified that these rural business experiences can create opportunities for the communities and associations dealing with COVID-19 in high-Andean zones.
"These projects consolidate the work of entrepreneurs and the family economy. Besides, they provide different alternatives to strengthen the national economy from the interior of the country," he stated.
Later, both Zeballos and Luna inspected the implementation of Amachay network, which supports elderly people at risk and persons with severe disability, particularly during the public health emergency posed by COVID-19.
"70% of the citizens affected by COVID-19 are seniors. Therefore, we must give them priority attention, which requires a response from all levels of government and permanent support," the Cabinet chief stated.
