Peruvian Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos on Thursday said the fight against corruption is a social investment because it optimizes and makes transparent the use of public resources, as well as facilitates the necessary means to boost greater public works.
As part of the first guideline, he said the Executive Branch approved the 2018-2021 National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Plan.
Furthermore, Zeballos highlighted the actions of the Executive to promote transparency in order to generate trust among the population.
"From the Government, we have assumed a key commitment. That is the creation of the National Transparency Authority, with total autonomy and independence from the Executive Branch," he said.
Zeballos also ratified the Executive's commitment to strengthening the State-run institutions and stressed that each ministry —including the
Presidency of the Council of Ministers— relies on an integrity office.
Moreover, he urged citizens to promote the values of integrity and honesty with a view towards the
Independence Bicentennial.
"In addition to being a historical year,
2021 —the year of the Bicentennial— is a great opportunity to ratify our commitment as a country, to strengthen our institutions, but —above all— to propose ourselves to become better citizens," he concluded.
