The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday afternoon announced that the
—within the framework of the current state of emergency in Peru— will be extended to 800,000 additional households, which will add to the 2.7 million families already relying on this benefit.
"We are getting to meet a demand from the people who require this financial support. Currently, there are 2.7 million families identified and registered, but we are aware that with this we would not be able to cover the total demand," he expressed.
For this reason, the Head of State said that the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) —together with the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE)— made an additional effort and decided to include more families who will benefit from the subsidy.
On this occasion, the President was joined by members of the Council of Ministers and other authorities. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.
Wednesday marks the tenth day of mandatory social isolation.
