stated on Friday that her Government will remain present and provide all necessary support to those affected by the earthquakes that struck the Junin region on July 18, mainly impacting residents of Chupaca Province.
Speaking to the media upon landing in Chongos Bajo district, Fujimori said she wanted her first trip as Head of State to be to the area hit by the earthquake, which claimed five lives and left hundreds of families affected.
The President arrived in the area accompanied by Ministers Rafael Belaunde (Defense), Marco Vinelli (Agrarian Development and Irrigation), and Mauricio Arnillas (Housing, Construction, and Sanitation).
The Head of State noted that, as part of her visit, the delegation would conduct an inspection alongside National Civil Defense Institute (INDECI) representatives after holding talks with regional and local authorities.
The top official also said she will visit the shelters where people affected by the earthquake are currently staying.
"What I want to make very clear to all those affected is that the Government will be present throughout this support and reconstruction process. You are not alone," Fujimori expressed.
Moreover, the President announced she will call on the private sector to join the efforts on behalf of those affected by the earthquake.
"We all have to do our part here," Fujimori added.
