Peru: President Fujimori arrives in Junin to inspect earthquake relief efforts

The President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori, arrived in the Junin region on Friday morning to oversee ongoing efforts to assist people affected by the earthquakes in this part of the country.

The Head of State was accompanied by Ministers Mauricio Arnillas (Housing), Rafael Belaunde (Defense), and Marco Vinelli (Agrarian Development).

As previously announced, the top official had said one of her first actions after taking office would be to travel to the region to lead these efforts.

The greatest damage from the earthquakes, which struck this month, was reported in Chupaca province, particularly in Chongos Bajo district.

This and other localities were placed under a state of emergency by the Executive Branch to carry out the necessary response and rehabilitation efforts.
