Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva on Wednesday highlighted the agreement signed between the Government of Peru and World Bank to fund the "
Improving the Performance of Non-Criminal Justice Services Project" through the implementation of the judicial electronic file.
The cabinet member explained the project is intended to improve efficiency, access, transparency, and user satisfaction, in the delivery of adequate non-criminal justice services, through the proper implementation of the non-criminal judicial electronic file.
Moreover, the minister noted that the project will be implemented over the next 5 years and will receive an additional US$73 million —in funding— from the Public Treasury.
"This citizen-centered initiative explores how to provide better services to all Peruvians. In addition, this is a multisectoral effort. The
justice system reform moves forward since many public institutions —with the support of
World Bank— work on a common goal," she said.
Alva remarked that next year's
Public Budget includes an increase of S/986 million (around US$291.2 million) to keep moving in that direction, which will benefit the Justice and Human Rights Ministry, the Judiciary, and the Public Ministry.
The ceremony took place at the Government Palace in Lima.
