During the meeting, they agreed on the need to consolidate coordinated efforts focused on achieving concrete results in addressing transnational organized crime.
In this regard, they agreed to move forward with defining the UN Country Programming Framework for Peru (2027–2031).
It is an instrument that will provide strategic guidance for United Nations cooperation and technical assistance in accordance with the Peruvian Government’s priorities.
Minister Espa said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will lead a consultation process with the relevant national institutions to determine priority areas and follow up on the implementation of the framework with UNODC.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Eric Anderson.
The valuable support provided by UNODC in areas such as port security, illicit crop monitoring, the fight against illegal mining, and environmental crimes was recognized at this event.
Likewise, UNODC's strategic role in implementing the Resolute Action Plan under Andean Community (CAN) Decision 922 was highlighted, ahead of Peru's upcoming assumption of the organization's pro-tempore presidency.
