"We have to eradicate threats of terrorism
and drug trafficking
in VRAEM, and we will do it together. We want to spread the idea among the population, as joint efforts of Armed Forces and National Police need everyone's support," he stated.
Speaking from Arequipa
, Huerta emphasized that all Peruvian citizens should commit their efforts and "stop seeing threats from a balcony."
"We need to support our Armed Forces (…). We need moral support for soldiers who voluntarily join military forces knowing they put their own lives at risk," the official added.
The minister also noted that Armed Forces have adapted efficiently to their new roles in changing times besides securing the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Andean country.
