The judicial standardization of the collaboration agreement signed with Odebrecht provides Peru with a better position to secure the civil reparations payment from the Brazilian corporation, Lava Jato Case Deputy State Attorney Silvana Carrion has affirmed.

According to Carrion, before the ratification of the accord, the Peruvian State lacked a debt security to demand the payment of civil reparations from the Brazilian company

"(…) Peru did not have a way to collect the debt because there was not a document that indicated the civil reparations amount and how it had to be paid," she told Cuarto Poder TV show.

Last week, the collaboration agreement was standardized by the Judiciary after months of assessment by Peruvian Judge Maria de Los Angeles Alvarez.

Likewise, the deputy attorney pointed out a bankruptcy filing will not put the payment at risk, since the accord was signed with a branch of the construction company, which is not part of the Brazilian holding.
