The signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Peru and China will consolidate even more the trade relations and strengthen the cultural bonds of both countries, the chairman of the APEC 2008 High-Level Extraordinary Commission, Luis Giampietri, said today.
“The Chinese economy is so important that, to be partner of this is a good decision for any economy. With Peru, the trade relations will be strengthened with reciprocal benefits”, he said at the APEC International Media Center.
Even though he did not know the progress of talks between both nations to sign a trade agreement, he said that the official visit of the Chinese president Ju Hintao is an excellent opportunity to know the scopes of the FTA.
Giampietri added that this afternoon will be known the level of the agreements when China’s dignitary arrives in Lima. “This is a government with great potentials and many people can consume what is produced by Peru”, he said.
He also highlighted that the cultural bonds between China and Peru have been developed since decades ago, when a significant Chinese immigration was registered in Peruvian land, contributing to the national idiosyncrasy with their own customes and celebrations.
