Peruvian President Alan Garcia Perez and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva are currently meeting with ministers, governors and state officials from the two countries at the Palace's Tupac Amaru Hall.
The expanded meeting with delegations of the two countries started at noon after a two-hour private meeting between Garcia and Lula da Silva at the Ambassadors’ Hall.
Brazilian ministers Celso Amorim (Foreign Affairs), Nelson Jobim (Defense), and Edison Lobao (Mines and Energy), as well as Petrobras President Sergio Gabrielli and Altino Ventura Filho, Secretary of Planning and Energy Development of the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
Also attending today's meeting are Brazilian Ambassador to Peru, Jorge d'Escragnolle; Sinval Zaidan, head of international operations at Eletrobras; and Francisco Baptista Costa, representative of Brazil’s National Secretariat of Transport.
Meanwhile Peru was represented by a group of State ministers including Jose Garcia Belaunde (Foreign Affairs), Enrique Cornejo (Transport and Communications), Martin Perez (Trade) Nidia Vilchez (Women and Social Development), and Pedro Sanchez (Energy and Mines).
Governors Ivan Vasquez (Loreto), Santos Kaway (Madre de Dios), Jorge Velásquez (Ucayali), Jorge Espinoza (Huanuco), and Cesar Alvarez (Ancash) as well as Peruvian Ambassador to Brazil, Hugo de Zela and other Peruvian diplomats are also present at the meeting.
Peru’s Alan Garcia and Brazil’s Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at 10.10 am held a parallel meeting to that of State officials.
