Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Felix Denegri, held a highly positive working meeting today with Sweden's Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Diana Janse, who is visiting our country to inaugurate the Business Sweden office in Peru.

Business Sweden is a public-private entity that supports the Nordic country's external management for its international economic outreach.

In this regard, the Peruvian government official highlighted that Business Sweden office's opening represents a decisive boost for trade, innovation, and sustainable investment between the two countries.

This is an additional step toward achieving greater institutional strength in the bilateral relationship, which will allow for the Swedish Embassy's reopening in Lima.

Deputy Minister Denegri conveyed to Secretary of State Janse Peru's interest in further deepening the bilateral political relationship, driven by high-level visits conducted during 2025.

He reiterated the invitation to Sweden, both its public and private sectors, to participate in Peru's infrastructure projects under Government-to-Government (G2G) schemes and Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).

In terms of cooperation, the diplomat expressed gratitude for Sweden's support in Peru's process of joining the OECD.

Currently, Sweden supports a project related to sustainable use of Amazonian resources. Other potential projects are being explored as well, in line with the recommendations of the OECD committees.

The willingness to cooperate in the fight against transnational organized crime was also discussed.

Deputy Minister Denegri reaffirmed Peru's commitment to continue working with Sweden to consolidate a modern, dynamic, and mutually beneficial relationship, with a positive impact on the Peruvian population.

Bilateral trade in 2024 reached US$450 million, surpassing 2023 figures by 30%.

The economic complementarity between the two countries opens up significant opportunities, particularly in the mining sector.

Sweden leads in technological development and sustainability standards, while Peru holds 8 of the 17 critical minerals essential for global energy transition.
