The
Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games are getting closer and have a positive impact not only on the country's sporting endeavors but on the national economy —mainly in the tourism sector.
According to Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Edgar Vasquez, more than 100,000 tourists are expected to visit Peru as part of this major sporting event, which will have a
positive impact on the economy.
In this sense, Vasquez said Peru is prepared to accept the challenge and has sufficient hotel capacity to accommodate the incoming tourists.
"Over the past years, we have attracted investments worth nearly US$540 million, which resulted in expanded hotel infrastructure in the country," the government official underscored.
Vasquez asserted he has participated in various hotel openings and that additional ones are scheduled to occur in the remainder of the year, thus increasing the presence of large hotel chains in the country.
