FA Ministers of Peru and El Salvador reaffirm commitment to strengthening cooperation

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea on Saturday held a bilateral meeting with El Salvadorian counterpart, Alexandra Hill, where they reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening cooperation between their countries.

As is known, the Cabinet member had arrived in the Central American country to attend, as Peruvian delegation head, the formal events linked to the inauguration of re-elected President Nayib Bukele.

At the meeting, Minister Gonzalez-Olaechea highlighted the historic relations existing between both States.

Similarly, he expressed Peru's interest in developing the full potential of relations in terms of political dialogue, bilateral trade, technical-scientific cooperation, and cultural ties.

During this event, the high-ranking official thanked El Salvador for supporting jurist Alberto Borea's current candidacy for Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACtHR) judge for 2025-2030. 

In that regard, both ministers discussed various aspects of the bilateral agenda and the opportunities that matching visions offer for greater cooperation at multilateral forums.

On the other hand, Minister Gonzalez-Olaechea's participation in the inauguration of El Salvadorian President was highlighted on the Peruvian Ministry's X platform.

According to the official post, the high-ranking official congratulated President Bukele and wished him the greatest success in his second term.

He also conveyed President Dina Boluarte's greetings to him.
