Lima’s main square was the venue for the serenade on the occasion of the 476th anniversary of Spanish foundation of Lima city. Artistic-cultural celebration brought together renowned local artists who paid homage to the three times crowned Garden City.

Lucia de la Cruz, Cecilia Barraza, Max Castro, Magali Solier, Julio Andrade, Juaneco y su Combo, Los Destellos, among others, performed on the same platform complemented with dances and fireworks display.

Organizers deemed it necessary to convene artists from different genres in order to emphasize that the capital city of Lima is a mixed city, where all different bloods blend.

Attendees enjoyed songs by Magaly Solier, who performed hits from her Quechua-language album ‘Warmi’; as well as the music of Lucia de la Cruz, who sang traditional creole music.

La Huaconada of Mito, a ritual dance included in the Representative List of the Unesco’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, was also performed as part of the festivities.

The event was attended by Lima’s mayor Susana Villaran, who urged inhabitants to be proud of their city. She also reaffirmed her commitment to improve the city.

Under the name of Limapaq Taki, celebrations run from 17.00 hours on Monday (2200 GMT) until 01.30 hours on Tuesday, Lima’s municipality reported.
