The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PromPeru) highlights the successful participation of the Peruvian delegation at Seatrade Cruise Global 2024, held from April 8 to 11 in Miami, United States.

This event, which attracts over 10,000 visitors each year, is internationally recognized as the summit of the cruise industry.

This has been a unique opportunity to highlight Peru's tourism offering and strengthen the country's presence in the sector.

The global ocean cruise industry has shown notable recovery after the pandemic. A market size of US$66.2 billion is estimated for 2024, representing an increase of 13.8% over the previous year.

Likewise, the number of passengers is projected to reach 30 million this year, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

This growth is due, in part, to the incorporation of more modern and eco-friendly vessels, aligning with the demands of sustainable travel and expanding its appeal among diverse groups of travelers.

It should be noted that the global economic impact of this industry is estimated at US$155 billion as an overall result.

During Seatrade Cruise Global 2024, representatives from PromPeru, the National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR), the Port of Paracas, and the Miraflores Bay Cruise Terminal Project demonstrated Peru's commitment to tourism and its interest in attracting more cruises to its shores.

Synergies have been achieved with other countries to strengthen the region's attraction to the global cruise offering. The alliance between Peru, Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador seeks to position the region as an unparalleled and attractive tourist destination for the world's leading cruise lines.

In this regard, the efforts made at the Port of Paracas, which in 2023 registered an increase of almost 5 times more cruises served compared to the previous year, go in this direction.

PromPeru seeks to cement Peru's position within the cruise industry, as well as reach other commercial agreements to position the Peruvian export offer on board ships.
