11:25 | Lima, Jun. 23 (ANDINA).
The Senegal national team has accepted invitations from Colombia and Peru for international friendly matches scheduled to hold on June 25 and 28 respectively, the Senegal FA said.
Both South American teams are preparing for next month’s Copa America being hosted by Argentina.
Senegal’s current top form across the four rounds of the ongoing 2012 African Cup of Nations has prompted the invitations, according to local observers.
However, coach Amara Traore will not be fielding his usual team. He has constituted another squad composed of players from the country’s Olympic and All African Games teams, as well as some locals.
He says it is intentional as the technical staff continues the search for fresh talents to inject into the Teranga Lions ahead of Gabon/Equatorial Guinea 2012, which Senegal is almost certain to qualify for, goal.com reported.
The Colombia-Senegal friendly will hold in Medellin, Colombia’s second largest city, next Saturday June 25, while the second match against Peru will be played in Lima, Peru’s capital on Tuesday June 28.
