"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru welcomes with profound joy the official confirmation of Pope Leo XIV's visit to the Republic of Peru from November 11 to 17, 2026," the Executive Branch institution said in a communiqué.
Likewise, the statement underscored that the return of the first Supreme Pontiff to hold Peruvian nationality to his homeland "constitutes an event of special historical significance."
"His arrival responds to the deepest aspirations of the Peruvian people and reflects the invitation extended by the Presidency of Peru to welcome the Holy Father to the country," the government agency added.
Finally, the ministry called on all citizens to join the preparations for this highly important event with enthusiasm, reaffirming the values of faith, dialogue, peace, and reconciliation.
Earlier today, it was announced that Pope Leo XIV will travel to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru from November 6 to 17.
In response, President Keiko Fujimori said she welcomed with profound joy the confirmation that His Holiness will visit Peru, describing it as "news that fills millions of Peruvians with hope."
