Prime Minister Luis Galarreta will lead a new session today of the High-Level Multisectoral Commission for the Restoration of Security and Public Order, with the participation of the Prosecutor of the Nation, Tomás Aladino Gálvez.
The involvement of the Public Prosecutor’s Office aims to strengthen coordination between law enforcement interventions and prosecutorial investigations, ensuring that actions against criminal organizations have the necessary legal backing and that legal proceedings can advance in accordance with the law.
The Prime Minister recently highlighted the importance of the Prosecutor’s Office’s work during operations carried out by the Unified Command, such as those conducted in Pataz.
Furthermore, he announced that future sessions will include the head of the Judiciary, as well as representatives from Supervisory Body for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel), the Financial Intelligence Unit, and telecommunications companies. This is intended to incorporate technical capabilities that will help counter the various operational methods used by criminal gangs.
The multisectoral commission is a permanent body that coordinates, aligns, and monitors the Executive branch’s measures to strengthen internal order and combat crime.
Its functions include promoting the exchange of information between public and private entities, developing proposals, and ensuring the implementation of agreements. Additionally, it may call upon other institutions to provide information and specialized expertise.
The session will be attended by the ministers who serve on the commission: César Astudillo (Public security), Rafael Belaúnde (Defense), Ernesto Álvarez (Justice and Human Rights), and Carlos Espá (Foreign Affairs).
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Galarreta will meet with the Mayor of Metropolitan Lima, Renzo Reggiardo, to coordinate efforts regarding public security and address other priority issues for the capital.
