President Dina Boluarte on Thursday underscored Peru's willingness to continue working with her counterpart from Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, in order to build a prosperous future for both nations.

Similarly, Mrs. Boluarte gave an account of the issues that will be addressed at the Peru-Ecuador Presidential Meeting and XV Binational Cabinet held at the Government Palace in Lima.

At the beginning of these events, Peru's top official indicated that, along with her Ecuadorian counterpart, "we will discuss ways in which both countries can confront transnational organized crime in an effective and coordinated manner."

In this sense, the Head of State said the Peruvian and Ecuadorian populations demand agile and effective solutions to this problem.

Likewise, the top official indicated that joint initiatives will be addressed to foster trade, tourism, and investments.

Furthermore, Mrs. Boluarte said possible cooperation areas will be explored in the mining and energy sector.

Moreover, she stated that development and social inclusion projects in the common border area will be addressed. In this regard, cross-border transit and transportation will also be strengthened.

"I reaffirm Peru's will to continue working with Ecuador so as to build a prosperous future for both nations," she emphasized.

Mrs. Boluarte indicated that the Binational Cabinet "is the outcome of the excellent bilateral relations that we maintain."

She added that "it is the highest instance of dialogue and political coordination" existing for both parties.

As a result, there are projects linked to the development of roads, health, education, and the implementation of strategies for border control, either already executed or in progress, she indicated.

Action plan

In turn, Ecuadorian President Noboa highlighted the work by both countries' Foreign Affairs Ministries in crafting the Lima Action Plan —a document that will be signed at the end of today's presidential and ministerial meetings.

Similarly, he underscored the support and joint work with Peruvian law enforcement forces in controlling the border against actions by criminal groups, such as those that unleashed a wave of violence in his country months ago.

Lastly, Mr. Noboa indicated that threats, such as poverty, insecurity, and lack of employment, will be fought jointly by Ecuador and Peru.

"It is our commitment and we will move towards that goal together," he expressed.
