announced on Thursday that Peru is ready to host the best Pan American and Parapan American Games, which will take place in the South American country next year.
The event took place at a centrally located hotel in Lima's San Isidro district.
"For us, this Assembly is not only a meeting of sports authorities; it is also an opportunity to show the world that Peru is ready to host the best Pan American Games, hand in hand with the Peruvian Sports Institute," Fujimori stated.
"Lima 2027 must be more than a major sporting celebration; we want it to be an opportunity to leave a legacy that endures long after its final competition has ended," she stated.
In this regard, the Head of State expressed confidence that this sports infrastructure will be available for use by children, adolescents, and national athletes after the Games.
"Sport is more than a public policy; it gives us discipline, health, and unity, but above all, hope," Fujimori stated.
"May Lima 2027 be much more than just those Games for all of us; may it be an opportunity to show that, when we work together, we can achieve great things for sport and for our peoples," she added.
The ceremony was attended by the International Olympic Committee's top representative, Kirsty Coventry; Panam Sports President Neven Ilic; Americas Paralympic Committee Head Julio Cesar Avila; Lima Mayor Renzo Reggiardo; and Chairman of the Peruvian Sports Institute and the Lima 2027 Organizing Committee, Oscar Fernandez, as well as authorities from the continental Olympic movement.
