The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, pledged to continue encouraging the efforts of qualified athletes striving to win medals and honors for the country.

These remarks were delivered during an awards ceremony for medalists of the XX Bolivarian Games Ayacucho–Lima 2025, held at the Government Palace in the capital on Tuesday.

"We will remain permanently attentive to all forms of State support, so that young people are increasingly encouraged, along with coaches who make great efforts and overcome difficulties, so that these types of human activities—which, as I say, are among the healthiest—continue to move forward," he stated.

In that regard, the Head of State indicated that financial rewards for these athletes will be increased in the future, as in other countries that invest heavily in sport.

"With these words, I convey the voice of each of the ministers who are not here but have asked me to represent them; tomorrow, when we hold the Council of Ministers (session), I will formally convey your participation at this symbolic ceremony for the delivery of the corresponding prize checks," he added.

The top official indicated that sports convey the idea of a "sound mind in a sound body" and should serve as an example for everyone.
