President Keiko Fujimori Higuchi affirmed today that Peru will face the ravages of the El Niño phenomenon in unity, expressing her conviction that, by doing so, the country will overcome the challenge.

"Regardless of one’s political affiliation or the region in which one lives, a united Peru will confront this adversity, and we will be able to tackle the terrible devastation that this phenomenon is bringing," the President stated during the handover of emergency vehicles for firefighters, donated by Japan.

"If we work together—as a team, with the support of our firefighters—I am confident that the country will move forward," she emphasized.

The head of state remarked in her address that while small actions can be taken individually, working in unity makes it possible to overcome anything.

During the ceremony, the President expressed her gratitude to the firefighters for the voluntary work they perform daily in responding to emergencies across the country.

President Keiko Fujimori also thanked the government and people of Japan for the donation of the emergency vehicles and for their ongoing collaboration with Peru.

"Receiving these five generously donated emergency vehicles provides a significant boost to our country; they will serve the capital as well as regions such as Ayacucho, Cusco, and Arequipa. This represents direct support for each of these regions," she stressed.

She explained that the donation includes four fire engines and one rescue unit, providing firefighters with the essential tools needed to respond to emergencies.

President Fujimori noted that the El Niño phenomenon brings with it both heavy rainfall—such as that already being recorded in the north—and droughts, which can lead to fires like those that occurred recently and were brought under control with the help of the firefighters. Accompanying the head of state at this ceremony were Minister of the Interior César Astudillo; the Commander General of the General Corps of Volunteer Firefighters of Peru, Juan Carlos Morales; and the Ambassador of Japan to Peru, Tsuyoshi Yamamoto.
