stressed on Thursday that Peru is open to markets around the world.
Likewise, the Head of State emphasized that the South American country offers the same opportunities to foreign and domestic investors.
Within this framework, the top official invited international business leaders to invest in the country with a clear message: "Peru is key."
"Peru's Constitution has a very important chapter, the economic chapter, in which we give foreign investors the same treatment as Peruvians, because we know how to compete and are open to the rest of the markets," she stated in remarks at the New York Stock Exchange during the traditional closing bell ceremony.
"I invite you to Peru. I want you to come because, as we say in Peru, Peru is key," Fujimori said.
The President acknowledged that the country faces significant challenges, including crime and the occurrence of a new El Niño phenomenon.
However, the Head of State emphasized that the Government has been taking firm action to address these situations.
First, she highlighted Peru's recent entry into the "Shield of the Americas," following an invitation from Secretary Marco Rubio, as well as the opportunity to speak with U.S. President Donald Trump this week on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly session.
Likewise, regarding El Niño phenomenon, she explained that the Executive Branch is working intensively and swiftly to prepare for the rainfall that could occur toward the end of the year.
However, the President underscored that, beyond these challenges, Peru maintains strong macroeconomic indicators that distinguish it in the region.
"What do you look for in a country when you analyze it? Well, you look at the fundamentals, and that is what Peru has to offer. We have US$100 billion in reserves. We have a deficit of 1.8%, and we have the lowest inflation rate in the region," Fujimori stressed.
Furthermore, she highlighted the continuity of leadership at the Central Reserve Bank through the ratification of Julio Velarde's term, saying "this is very good news for us."
The Head of State recalled that Peru is recognized worldwide for its mining wealth, but underscored that the national economy has also established itself as an agricultural export powerhouse.
In this regard, the top official reiterated that the country offers multiple business opportunities across various productive sectors.
Furthermore, she called on business leaders and investors to visit Peru to learn firsthand about its potential.
"I want you to come to Peru and see all these opportunities that we are offering," Fujimori said during the event.
The President was accompanied by NYSE Strategic Operations Director Will Goodwin, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Rogers Valencia, and senior NYSE executives.
The Head of State signed the Bell Ringer Book and subsequently rang the traditional closing bell at the NYSE amid applause from those in attendance.
This week, as part of the 81st United Nations General Assembly session, the NYSE invited five prominent figures to take part in this traditional ceremony: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio; Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro; U.S. First Lady Melania Trump; Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul; and Peru's Head of State.
