On behalf of his administration, the
thanked Congress for the voting results, which led to rejecting the impeachment motion against him presented last November.
Within this framework, the Head of State called on political forces to put an end to the political crises so as to build a fair and supportive country.
Via Twitter, the top official emphasized that authorities cannot disappoint the trust of the Peruvian people.
"On behalf of my Government, I am grateful that Congress voting (results) put Peru ahead of other interests. Brothers and sisters, let us end the political crises and work together to build a fair and supportive Peru," Mr. Castillo expressed on Tuesday night.
"The people have entrusted us with their wishes. Let us not disappoint them," he indicated.
Said request had been presented by Avanza Pais party Congresswoman Patricia Chirinos on November 25, 2021.
76 legislators voted against the motion, whereas 46 voted in favor, and 4 abstained. It was shelved as it needed 52 votes to start the impeachment proceedings.
