The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday called on Peruvians to work together to eliminate violence and harassment towards female citizens.

During the inauguration of the Javier Heraud Bicentennial School in Lima's San Juan de Miraflores district, Mrs. Boluarte said this is "a problem that concerns us all" in Peru.

"This unacceptable violence must stop now, and it is up to all of us as citizens to work together to build a society in which every woman feels respected, loved, beloved, and valued wherever she is," she pointed out.

The Head of State said "we will build a much more united Peru, with respect and values" as long as there is respect for equity and justice.

"Women have the same rights and must have the same opportunities as men. And men should know how to love, cherish, and respect their women, their partners, their mothers, their sisters, their grandmothers, their granddaughters, and their nieces. We are all one community. We do not differentiate between men and women," she expressed.

Day against violence

In this regard, while remembering citizens that today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Mrs. Boluarte called on Peruvians "to work together in order to eliminate violence and harassment."

"By empowering women, we empower the country, and my government is committed to that goal," she stated.

The top official said that over the weekend she had held a meeting with rural women agricultural producers, who are involved in the issue of food security.

"They are valuable women whom we support," she expressed.

The top official also noted that Peru remains on a "path of growth, development, and modernity."

"No political noise, no voice that attempts to divide us, no action that attempts to affect our administration, will stop" that course, she concluded.
