Presidency of Council of Ministers extends greetings to Armed Forces' members

On the occasion of Armed Forces Day, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) conveyed affectionate greetings to the members of the Peruvian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The Executive Branch highlighted the three military institutions' love for the homeland, as well as their contribution to the development of the country.

"Love and defense of the homeland, as well as their significant contribution to the development of the country, are the characteristics of our Armed Forces," the PCM said.

"Today, on this day, we convey affectionate greetings to women and men in the Army, Navy, and Air Force," it added.

In Peru, Armed Forces Day is celebrated on September 24 every year, in recognition of the military personnel of the Army, Navy, and Air Force which, in accordance with Article 165 of the Political Constitution, make up the Peruvian Armed Forces.

Armed Forces Day was established via Supreme Decree No. 003-77-CCFFAA in 1977.

This date of celebration coincides with the consecration of the Virgin of Mercy —Patroness of the Armed Institutes and Grand Patroness of Peru.

In accordance with the Political Constitution, the Armed Forces' primary purpose is to guarantee the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Republic. 

In addition, they assume the control of domestic order during states of emergency, as outlined in Article 137 of the Constitution.
