said on Thursday that Peru's public budget of more than S/266 billion (about US$79.33 billion) for Fiscal Year 2027 will mark a turning point for the country, helping to strengthen public security, close social gaps, and build a State that works.
In this regard, the Cabinet chief said that S/15.4 billion (about US$4.59 billion) is being allocated to public order and security, with a focus on criminal investigations, crime prosecution, and greater operational capacity for police patrols.
Likewise, the Prime Minister indicated that S/49.1 billion (about US$14.64 billion) will be allocated to education, S/32.2 billion (about US$9.60 billion) to health, and S/26 billion (about US$7.75 billion) to transportation, as the country needs to be better connected.
Galarreta stressed that the Government wants to change things and has an obligation to confront the reality it has inherited rather than stop at diagnosing the problems; it must restore the Peruvian State's response capacity.
"Peru needs a State that works and responds in a timely manner, that pursues criminals, protects older adults, and provides concrete results," he asserted during his presentation.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister said the aim is to restore productive dynamism and resume the growth path.
As he noted, structural challenges persist that prevent sustainable growth, including low productivity, high informality, vulnerability to climate change, and the State's limited capacity to address them.
"To move toward a sustainable country, we must close social gaps, address structural challenges, and achieve territorial equity," Galarreta pointed out.
"As a Government, our responsibility is clear, and the figures must translate into decisions and concrete results for Peruvians," he emphasized.
