To help visitors enjoy an unforgettable experience while contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage, the
Decentralized Directorate of Culture (DDC) in Amazonas has shared a series of recommendations for those planning to visit the Kuelap Monumental Archaeological Complex, the flagship tourist attraction of this region.
The agency urged domestic and international tourists to plan their visit in advance by purchasing their tickets ahead of time and preparing for the weather conditions and the hike required to explore the monument.
The DDC reminded visitors of the importance of carrying their national ID or passport during their visit, staying on the designated trails and routes, and following the instructions of staff at the archaeological site.
It also called on visitors to actively contribute to the protection of Kuelap by refraining from damaging the walls, structures, and other archaeological features that are part of the Chachapoya culture’s important legacy.
The institution emphasized that each visit offers an opportunity to discover the history and cultural richness of the Amazonas region while reinforcing the commitment to preserving one of the country's foremost tourist attractions and cultural heritage sites for future generations.
Kuelap is located in Luya province, Peru's northern Amazonas region.
