Peru’s Ministry of Culture has announced new promotional ticket rates for 2026, allowing national visitors, foreign residents, and citizens of the Andean Community to explore the iconic Inca citadel of Machu Picchu under updated entry rules.

Ministerial Resolution No. 000284-2025-MC, signed by Minister Alfredo Luna Briceño and published on November 1 in legal regulations of the Official Gazette El Peruano, outlines special rates for several entry circuits within the Machu Picchu Archaeological Park.

The Panoramic Circuit (Circuit 1) includes routes to the Upper Terraces (available year-round), the Intipunku Gate, and the Inka Bridge (available only during high season). The Classic Machu Picchu Circuit (Circuit 2) covers the Main Designed Route and Lower Terrace Route, both open all year. The Royalty Circuit (Circuit 3) includes the Designed Route (year-round) and Huchuy Picchu Route (high season only).

General admission for these routes is S/ 64 (approx. $18.90), while students and minors (ages 3–17) pay S/ 32 (approx. $9.45). The measure seeks to promote domestic tourism and responsible visitation.

Higher rates apply to mountain routes such as Montaña Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu, and the Great Cavern Trail, S/ 112 (approx. $33) general entry and for students and minors S/ 80 (approx. $23.60).

Entry Requirements

Visitors must present valid identification: a national ID card, foreign resident card, or passport proving their legal status as Peruvian citizens, residents, or Andean Community nationals.

Student discounts apply only to undergraduate students with valid IDs issued by SUNEDU (Peru’s National Superintendency of University Education), the Ministry of Education, or accredited Andean universities or technical institutes.

Children under 3 enter free, while minors (ages 3–17) must be accompanied by an adult responsible for their safety.

The length of stay at the site will be determined by the Ministry of Culture’s regional office in Cusco, in line with the Sustainable Use and Tourism Regulation for the preservation of the Inca citadel.

Visitor Capacity in 2026

A separate resolution (No. 000285-2025-MC) establishes a maximum daily capacity of 5,600 visitors during high season — January 1; April 2–5; June 19 to November 2; and December 30–31, 2026.

For the rest of the year, the visitor cap remains at 4,500 per day. The policy aims to protect and preserve the Inca heritage of Machu Picchu, which was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List on December 9, 1983, for its outstanding universal value as both a cultural and natural site.

Tickets for all circuits can be purchased exclusively through the official website www.tuboleto.cultura.pe.
