The remains of Peruvian writer and filmmaker Armando Robles Godoy were cremated Wednesday in a ceremony that took place at the cemetery of Huachipa, in the presence of relatives and friends.
Through a statement of Peru’s health care system Essalud, the family of the filmmaker invited all those who wished to pay him their final farewell to walk behind the hearse that left from the Eduardo Rebagliati Martins hospital at 10:30 hours (15:30 GMT) to the graveyard.
After the news of Robles’s death, which occurred at 11:30 hours on Tuesday, the family members expressed their wish to carry out his wake in private.
The renowned creator of "No stars in the Jungle" died at age 87 in the Intensive Care unit of Eduardo Rebagliati hospital of a cardiac arrest.
A posthumous tribute to Armando Robles is scheduled for August 14 at the Pedro de Osma Museum in the framework of the activities of the Film Festival of Lima.
