09:00 | Lima, Feb. 28.

The use of internet services and applications through mobile phones continues to rise in Peru. In the fourth quarter of 2024, the average monthly mobile internet consumption per phone reached a peak of 19.24 gigabytes (GB), the Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel) reported.

This represents an 11.34% increase compared to the average monthly consumption reported in the fourth quarter of 2023 and a 239.45% expansion over the same period in 2019 (5.67 GB).

The digital platform Punku also revealed that around 31.35 million mobile phones accessed the internet as of December 2024, 3.42% more than in the same period the previous year (30.31 million).

The analysis shows that mobile internet data consumption is growing at a faster rate than the number of mobile phones accessing the internet, driven by the increasingly intensive use of this service.
