Peruvian, Thai FA Ministers meet at APEC

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Cesar Landa held a meeting with his counterpart from Thailand, Don Pramudwinai, within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in Bangkok.

The government official participates in APEC Economic Leaders' Week joined by Minister Pramudwinai and representatives of other member economies.

During the meeting, the host country's high-ranking official and his Peruvian counterpart agreed to work jointly with a view to holding the APEC 2024 Forum in Peru.

"Foreign Affairs Minister Cesar Landa began his participation in APEC Economic Leaders' Week, which is held in Bangkok, Thailand. Along with representatives of the 20 member economies, he held an initial meeting with his Thai counterpart," the Peruvian government agency reported on Wednesday.

The APEC Leaders' Meeting will address major challenges for Asia-Pacific, such as global economic recession, disruptions in supply chains, as well as food and energy security.

The APEC Forum is aimed at strengthening regional economic and technical cooperation, connectivity in the Pacific Basin, inclusive and sustainable economic development through policy coordination, exchange of experiences, and implementation of regional initiatives.


About APEC

Founded in November 1989, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum is made up of 21 Asia-Pacific economies.

It seeks to promote trade and investment liberalization, facilitate business, as well as promote economic and technical cooperation in order to achieve prosperity among member economies.

Members are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, United States, and Vietnam. Peru joined the forum in 1998 and has presided over APEC twice, in 2008 and 2016.
