Short film “Loxoro” -directed by Peruvian filmmaker Claudia Llosa- has won the Teddy Award at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale).

The Teddy Award is an international film award for films with LGBT topics, presented by an independent jury as an official award of the Berlin International Film Festival.

Said award is given the night before the presentation of the Golden Bear Award at such international film festival.

The international jury was comprised of German actress Sandra Hüller, Palestine artist Emily Jacir and filmmaker David OReilly.

Claudia Llosa's short film competed with films from Korea, Sri Lanka, France, Australia, Lebanon, Brazil, Chile, Portugal, India and Venezuela among others.

After receiving the award, Llosa expressed her happiness and pride for receiving this new award in her successful film career.

“I’m very happy. The Teddy Award means a lot to me and I dedicate it to Peru and everyone who helped with the making of Loxoro. This is for you,” she said.
