Interbank Group announced the acquisition of the Peruvian chain of pharmacies Inkafarma.
The group performed this transaction through IHP-R Holding Corp. and NG Capital Partners I, LP, private equity fund Nexusgroup, livinginperu.com reported.
The Peruvian trading group seeks to complement its retail trading platform. Interbank is also part owner of Supermercados Peruanos (Plaza Vea, Vivanda and Mass), Peruvian Stores (Oeschle) and Finance One (the operator for the credit card Oh!).
Inkafarma will accelerate its growth and plans to open more retail stores in Lima. Inkafarma employs over 5,000 people, and has nearly 400 retail stores in the country; it also has a 30% market share.
According to reports, about ten firms were interested in buying the chain pharmacies, including Casa Saba of Mexico.
